Online Wellness Training

It all started when…

We have watched people around us struggle at times without the support and sometimes willingness due to the ingrained stigma of accessing counselling especially in rural locations. Due to this history, our primary goal was focused on teaching about mental health and wellbeing. But, we knew we could not do that with only the two of us, so we broadened the approach and focused on reaching people through their people. By offering training that creates competence and confidence around the 8 Dimensions of Wellness for willing local participants, we can create the desired ripples and sustain the project well beyond our doors. Sage Wellness Connection would like to thank Canadian Mental Health Association and the Rural Mental Health Grant for sponsoring the Wellness Facilitator Training project and Alberta Health Services and the SPHIFR Grant for sponsoring the First Responder Peer Champion Training.

Wellness Facilitator Training

Our rural communities are an integral part of our world and our rural people’s mental health should be our utmost priority in order to maintain safe, happy and healthy communities. At Sage Wellness Connection, we feel very strongly about creating opportunities to explore, discover and connect to all of the mental health and wellbeing facets of our lives, our rural communities and the people that live in them. We cannot do that alone and that is why we have taken the path to identify Wellness Facilitators within Wainwright and the rural areas that surround it with the intent to support them with knowledge, skills and enthusiasm. The Wellness Facilitators will take their knowledge and begin to create wellness training within their own communities, families and friends. First Responder Peer Champion Training

At Sage Wellness Connection, we feel very strongly about creating opportunities to explore, discover and connect to all of the mental health and wellbeing facets of our lives, our first responders’ lives and the people around them. We cannot do that alone and that is why we have taken the path to identify First Responder Peer Champions within multiple rural areas and support them with knowledge, skills and enthusiasm. The First Responder Peer Champions will take their knowledge and begin to create peer support groups within their own rural communities.
